MAPHEUS-5 – Launch of a Research Rocket in Kiruna, Sweden – Two Cameras

The video shows the launch of the MAPHEUS-5 research rocket on 30 June 2015 in Esrange/Sweden. The viewer can assume an unusual perspective as the flight was recorded by integrated cameras. The top version shows the view from one camera, the bottom version includes a split screen of the images from both cameras. This makes the field of vision twice as large – however, there is a small strip in the middle missing, the width of the rocket, which the cameras cannot cover.

STERN Student Experimental Rockets

Planning and building your own rocket and having it launched from the Esrange Space Center near Kiruna in northern Sweden – the STERN (student experimental rockets) programme provides students at German institutions of higher education specialising in “aerospace engineering” with this unique opportunity.

The students have three years to complete their project. Due to the complexity of the project, this can only be achieved in teams.
